Some people thought keeping the Japanese people in the camps was wrong.
There were innocent children, infants and teenagers put in the camps that wanted nothing to do with the war.  The government knew there was no way an infant or child  could be a spy and they knew the camps were wrong. An  American Japanese soldier, Sadao Munemori a loyal Japanese American gave his life for his country, in Italy fighting for America while his family was held hostage in an internment camp.  Many people knew this was an injustice.

Some politicians used the excuse that the camps were necessary because they didn't want Japanese Americans becoming spies to help the Japanese army. They believed that spies helped the Japanese army to attack Pearl Harbor.  Due to political pressure President Franklin D. Roosevelt decided that putting all the Japanese Americans in relocation camps was justifiable diplomacy.  Americans just didn't want another attack. They thought they would prevent it by keeping Japanese families in these camps. The internees that wern't trusted were called NONO's.

Many Japanese families that were forced to relocate were locked up in internment camps while a family member was bravely defending the U.S. during World War II.
Alyce Kurihara gave birth to her daughter Charlotte Takahashi (both shown on the left) at the Camp Jerome internment camp in Jerome,  Arkansas while her husband, Tommy Kurihara served in the United States Army at Camp Beal!

Charlotte and Lloyd Takahashi currently reside in Mission Viejo CA. Charlotte was my older sister Caitlin's, 3rd grade teacher at Valencia Elementary school in Laguna Hills.  When i decided to make my report on Manzanar and the Japanese intern camps during WW2 i contacted Mrs Takahashi to find out about her life during that period.
